i-Jet Media Grows on Spielwiese.com and in Lithuania
i-Jet Media published Mushroomers on Spielwiese.com, a German social network for gamers. It is the seventh social game the company released on Spielwiese.com. The social game, Mushroomers, was produced by Games Universe (Vselennaya Igr) from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. The game’s German name is “Pilzsammler”. It is an arcade with two main gameplay elements, including mushroom picking and café management. While earning virtual money by gathering and cooking mushrooms, the user seeks to visit as many locations as possible, get sufficient experience, and learn peculiar facts about various mushrooms.
Also today, Sim Hospital, a social game produced by Russia’s game developer Red Spell, was released on Lithuania’s social network ONE.LT. Sim Hospital is a business simulator. The user develops his own hospital, and does his best to make it the largest and most profitable hospital. He expands and equips rooms, hires doctors, organizes medical research, and watches over that every patient gets a timely and high-quality medical help. ONE.LT is the largest social network in Lithuania. In June, its audience totaled more than 600 thousand MAU which is about a half of all Lithuanian Internet users. i-Jet Media is expected to publish Wild West Trains on ONE.LT in the nearest future. Farm Frenzy, recently released here by the company, has managed to become one of the most popular social games on this network.

From i-Jet CEO Alexey Kostarev’s point of view diversity of platforms is the key of success for social game developers: “We are seeing already that leading positions in the market are being taken by studios who do not depend on one or two single social networks. Those players have already managed to gain significant shares on several local markets. Next year, the overwhelming majority of developers will not be able to earn enough money with their games if they are live only on one or two social networks.”

As no game in the Top20 really sticks out this week we have a look at some new games. We find 94 games on StudiVZ and MeinVZ and 74 games on SchülerVZ. Newest games include “22 – Moon at War”, a space RPG by Playnik and “Dino Insel” – a farming type game with a dinosaur theme. Plinga launched their restaurant simulation “Café House” just recently and Chinese developer Happy Elements follows with “Lounge Bar”. New releases with the currently highest growth are “Steinzeit” (stone age)
by i-Jet and “Pflanzen gegen Vogelscheuchen” (Plants vs. Scarecrows) by ELEX. Steinzeit is another game with a prehistoric theme in which villagers compete against each other fighting as individuals or as tribes. Pflanzen gegen Vogelscheuchen is a strategic game in which plants and scarecrows fight for garden space. Although the game is very poorly localized, even including an error in the game title, it is refreshing because it is the first game of its kind on the VZ networks.

After Bigpoint launched Dark Orbit and Seafight on Nasza Klasa expectations grew high that many others will follow shortly. Currently though, it looks like we still need to be more patient to see Nasza Klasa’s 12-game portfolio expanding. All games remain on the same position this week and Pet Party is the fastest growing game the third week in a row. Dominant publishers on Nasza Klasa like i-Jet and Plinga keep publishing new games on other networks but apparently the user numbers on NK are not sufficient to justify the launch of more games at this point.
Russian publisher i-Jet Media has launched the new social game “Pet a Pet” (“Zveriki” in Russian) on the Russian social network Odnoklassniki. The game has been developed by the Russian game developer Akella and registered over 45 thousand installs on the day of the launch. With reported 200 new users every minute i-Jet and Akella are confident that Pet a Pet will become a Top 5 game on Odnoklassniki.
Russian developer Akella produces social games as well as educational games. Pet a Pet is the project that is meant to combine both. It is supposed to be of interest for parents willing to test or increase their children’s sense of responsibility which reminds of the Tamagotchi movement. Pet a Pet was first presented on the Russian Game Developers Conference and was nominated for the best online project. Although the development costs of the game are not disclosed, Pet a Pet is rumored to be the most expensive one ever produced in Russia.
