Berlin’s social gambling start-up Crowdpark has launched their new football game, “90Live”. The first dedicated football betting game on Facebook, 90Live kicks off just in time for UEFA Euro 2012 today, so that players can start placing their bets from the very beginning of the tournament. Europe’s premier football tournament, Euro 2012 is the 14th European Championship showcasing 16 national football teams, and is held from 8 June – 1 July 2012.
90Live incorporates the best of football’s social elements, offering live bets, weekly predictions and trivia questions. It takes the thrill of football betting to a social environment, letting fans compete for status with virtual currency while supporting their favourite teams and joining fellow fans to get their country at the top of the rankings.
To celebrate Euro 2012 in particular, Crowdpark has designed a special ‘Euro mode’ for 90Live. Players can answer Euro 2012 trivia questions, bet on games, receive special offers and earn points. Links between the virtual game and real-world football fever culminate in chances to win prizes ranging from a PlayStation 3 with a FIFA 12 game to Samsung smartphones, jerseys, and official Euro 2012 footballs.
“Live in-play betting is the fastest-growing type of sports betting and we’re excited to be pioneering real-time football betting on Facebook,” said Crowdpark co-founder Martin Frindt.
In 2011, gross revenues of the online gambling industry were measured at $31.4B. Betting accounts for 43% of that figure, or $13.5B. (Source H2 Gambling Capital). Football is the most popular sport for betting. Crowdpark offers several betting and casino products for multiple platforms including Facebook, the Web and mobile.
